This is not a post you would normally read here, on Fresh Travelling. It has little to do with you unique beach escapes, luxury new resorts or undiscovered destinations around the world. In a sense, it’s not even about the Olympics.
Yet, an important message behind this photo shot is what made me want to pass this along.
For the first time in Olympic history, we were able to see so clear that it’s not the culture or uniform that divides us, but it’s the game the unites.
Ultimately, it's only sports...
But taking another step forward encompasses everything about us as humans.
A simple uniform rules changes in 2012 affected several sporting events, including beach volleyball, enabled 20+ more countries to participate in the Summer Olympics this year.
The photo below captured an outstanding moment in the beach volleyball match. Egypt playing vs Germany. Two girls Elghobashy and Walkenhorst wearing different uniforms but following the same passion.
It's interesting to note how simple people try to conform when there's nothing to conform but be kind, polite, awesome, and simply be yourself.
We are all equal and different at the same time, and instead of pointing out the differences, let’s celebrate them, let’s preserve them so we can all learn from and more about each other.
It is and has always been a very sensitive and controversial topic..but I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Do you consider this being a step forward or step back for us as a modern society?
